About the Role
Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is seeking a Regional Safety Supervisor to join our team in Prince Rupert, BC.
The Regional Safety Supervisor is the primary resource for all health, safety and environmental matters in the North Coast region, including oversight of HSE operations at an active quarry. This position provides leadership, coaching and technical support to ensure the company’s HSE programs are effectively implemented, and the goal of zero accidents is achievable. The Regional Safety Supervisor works closely with operations leadership through a matrix reporting structure to promote compliance, strengthen safety culture and support continuous improvement across all regional construction, paving, aggregate, quarry, asphalt plant and ready mix operations. Mining safety experience is a strong asset.
Main Responsibilities
• Guide the implementation of all HSE policies and procedures and promote good due diligence practices.
• Provide field leadership by conducting regular worksite visits and inspections across construction, paving, aggregate and quarry operations; report on conditions and provide recommendations to address hazards and compliance requirements.
• Check all company and subcontractor operational activities, including quarry mining activities, for compliance with HSE Program and regulatory requirements; work with the Regional Construction Manager and HSE Manager to ensure these requirements are enforced.
• Provide incident investigation support, including leading investigations, supporting operations personnel in conducting investigations and reviewing investigation reports to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Provide support for the management of workplace injuries and compensation claims, including liaison with claims management service agencies.
• Assist in planning and delivering HSE training programs, orientations and competency development, including quarry-specific training where required.
• Coordinate drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy for pre-hire, reasonable grounds and post-incident situations.
• Review HSE Key Performance Indicators (Leading and Lagging) and compile reports for the Terus HSE Manager and Regional Construction Manager.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, including WorkSafeBC, BC Mines, CVSE, Environmental agencies and other applicable government departments.
• Conduct internal HSE audits and participate in external audits, including activities related to COR certification and compliance under BC Mines regulatory requirements.
• Assist with environmental compliance duties, including spill response, waste management, quarry water management and meeting client or regulatory environmental requirements.\
• Provide leadership and support for Safety Committees and foster a high level of teamwork within the committees.
• Maintain accurate incident reporting and record-keeping using company safety management software.
• Participate in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans and assist in conducting emergency drills, including quarry emergency response preparedness.
• Maintain ongoing liaison and a strong working relationship with the Terus HSE Manager and Environmental Coordinator.
• Represent the company at regional and local stakeholder meetings as required.
• Assist in maintaining a company name synonymous with good corporate citizenship and sound environmental practices.
• Maintain a continuous and open dialog to inform the Terus HSE Manager on all of the above.
• Other duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills

• Good computer & organizational skills with familiarity with MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Understanding of HSE focused online programs, both internal and external

• Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
Experience/Education

Compensation
The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000CAD annually. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
