Job Summary:
This senior‑level role provides strategic leadership and operational direction for regional equipment and shop performance, including budgeting, forecasting, capital planning, staffing, and asset lifecycle management. The position supports maintenance efforts across all assigned locations, drives operational consistency, and leads supervisory and technical teams to achieve high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams.
• Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies.
• Lead planning and execution of maintenance programs, equipment lifecycle strategies, and reliability initiatives to maximize uptime and reduce operational costs.
• Hold full accountability for equipment and shop operations budgets across assigned locations, including forecasting, planning, and long‑range financial strategy.
• Analyze financial performance, operating costs, and resource utilization; identify and implement cost‑reduction and efficiency improvement strategies.
• Oversee capital expenditure planning, justification, prioritization, and execution across the region, ensuring alignment with operational and business goals.
• Direct multi‑location equipment maintenance operations, including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and component replacement planning.
• Partner with the equipment management team to monitor asset condition and recommend repairs, rebuilds, or replacement based on lifecycle needs and performance targets.
• Ensure consistent use of maintenance systems, work‑order processes, and asset‑management tools across all shops.
• Oversee administrative staff responsible for maintaining accurate equipment records, compliance documentation, work orders, and reporting.
• Lead annual and periodic inventory reviews, establishing waste factors and maintaining standard costs across assigned shops.
• Collaborate with regional leadership, operations, procurement, finance, and safety teams to align priorities and optimize resource allocation.
• Perform additional duties related to operational strategy, equipment management, or regional needs as assigned.
Education:
• Degree from a vocational school, and/or degree in business administration, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; relevant maintenance certifications preferred.
• Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record is required; commercial license preferred.
Skills:
• 5+ years of experience working in a heavy equipment maintenance and repair required.
• 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role required.
• Solid digital literacy, including use of MS Office products, work order, budgeting, and inventory control systems.
• Self-directed, goal-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance.
• Ability to lead and motivate others with demonstrated experience effectively managing a team.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines.
• Regularly required to work while sitting for long periods in an office environment.
• Regularly exposed to a shop environment and work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery, loud noises, dust, fuel/oil, and other chemicals.
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device.
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity.
• Frequently required to stand; walk across uneven terrain; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Frequent travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required.
