Job Summary:

This is a senior level position in accounting with a focus on coordinating all financial reporting functions for the regional operations. The Regional Controller uses accounting and economic skills to evaluate operating data, business trends and prepare financial statements that align with industry practices, regulatory requirements, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
•    Responsible for the administration, budgeting and financial accounting for the region including ensuring job cost integrity
•    Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial reports to ensure integrity is maintained, e.g., inventories, accounts receivable
•    Communicate financial and administrative issues with management (e.g., Corporate Controller, Chief Financial Officer, and President
•    Review operating costs and propose potential areas of cost reduction
•    Analyze detailed job revenue, cost, and accrual information
•    Work with operations to assure proper flow of accounting information
•    Coordinate year-end inventory analysis, develop waste factors, standard inventory cost and selected monthly schedules
•    Participate in external and internal year-end audits
•    Analyze and assimilate new acquisitions regarding accounting and administrative issues
•    Monitor and oversee accounts receivables
•    Maintain aging records, collections, and data entry
•    Assist in preparation and organization of monthly activity report
•    Work with estimators to assure proper costs are used in the estimation process
•    Assist in preparation of annual plans, forecasts, and budgets
•    Coordinate and maintain proper internal control structure for the region
•    Assist the Regional Manager and/or Corporate Controller with special projects as necessary
•    Supervise administrative and financial staff including hiring, training, and evaluation 
•    Report financial results to Regional Manager and Corporate Controller
•    Implement policies and procedures developed at the Regional and Corporate level
•    Directly responsible to the Regional Manager; maintain close interactions with and be indirectly responsible to the Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer
•    Recommend to management strategies, objectives, and policies for the company 
•    Prepare/coordinate reports required by regulatory agencies, e.g., sales and use tax, highway use tax
•    Maintain applications, including regulatory reports

Education:

•    5+ years of progressive accounting experience required
•    Previous supervisory experience preferred
•    Ability to work with a diverse team, and promote mentorship and professional development of staff
•    Ability to apply accounting concepts such as debits, credits, reconciliation, analysis, etc. 
•    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
•    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables 
•    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
•    Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community 
•    Proficiency in MS Office Programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
•    Proficiency in accounting programs (JD Edwards Preferred)

Skills:

•    5+ years of progressive accounting experience required

Physical Requirements:

•    Most work performed in an office environment, quiet to moderate noise level
•    Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 35 pounds 
•    Frequently required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
•    Occasionally required to stand and walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; visiting work sites may require walking over uneven terrain and some exposure to dust, chemicals, and loud noise
•    Some travel with overnight stays away from home may be required
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
