Role Summary
Terus Construction, a Division of Colas Western Canada Inc. is looking to hire an Equipment Operator for our operations in Smithers, BC – Bulkley Valley.
Main Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the equipment operator include, but are not limited to:
- Capable of operating heavy equipment such as wheel loaders of various sizes and makes, skid-steers and excavators
- Operate all heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Must be self-motivated, driven and able to work well independently
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate, and refill the equipment as necessary
- Ensure that equipment is stored safely and securely
- Capable of loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently
- Able to take and follow instruction from supervisor, adjust to changing conditions and communicate any and all needs to supervisor, as well as working as part of a team
- Capable of doing various tasks and labour duties as required
Requirements
- A minimum Class 5 drivers license (preference given to applicants with class 1 or 3 license)
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
- 2-3 years experience operating a diverse range of construction equipment is required
- 3-5 years in the construction industry is preferred
Profile
The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $35.50-$44.00/hr. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
