Summary

We are seeking a Field-Level Quality & Environmental Compliance Coordinator to join our team in developing, implementing, and maintaining our internal quality assurance programs, as well as fulfilling our environmental initiatives reporting requirements. This Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of installed materials and workmanship related to our base subgrade, aggregate placement, concrete forming and pouring, and asphalt placement. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a solid understanding of road construction methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures all operations prioritize the health and safety of all personnel involved.
  • Maintains relationships and collaborates with client representatives, owners, engineers, consultants, other Project Managers, and internal departments to improve quality assurance practices and identifies areas for process improvements.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains the Company’s quality management system.
  • Promotes best practices and lessons learned for both our quality and environmental management systems to hold project and process teams accountable.
  • Prepares and presents findings to all levels of management and staff to inform company decision-making.
  • Stays informed and communicates changes in industry regulations, technological advancements, and best practices in quality management.
  • Investigates non-conformance events and implements corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Works to provide solutions for non-conformance events, detailing the necessary corrective actions and any required preventative measures.
  • Collects and maintains accurate records of non-conformance events for review by Senior Management.
  • Monitors and tracks deficiency costs, assigning corresponding values to affected projects.
  • Completes environmental audits and reports for construction worksites, asphalt plants, and aggregate pits (as may be required).

  • Understanding of local road construction practices, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to learn, implement and use new technologies e.g. Enablon, Echo as it relates to quality and environmental management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Commerce, Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years (minimum) experience in the construction industry with sound understanding of both road construction materials and processes.
  • Certification in quality management would be considered an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.

Conditions of Employment

  • 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, overtime as may be required.
  • Prolonged sitting and computer work.
  • Walking long distances over rough terrain.
  • Outdoors, inclement weather during site visits.
  • Working in and around live traffic, on active construction sites.
  • Exposures: noise, dust, fumes, and other workplace hazardous materials.
  • Comply with Company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Attend company, client, meeting(s) and industry events.
  • Reliable transportation (if required).
