Job Summary

  • Maintains and repairs equipment, vehicles, and/or facilities used for carrying out the operations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reads job order and observes equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.
  • Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
  • Overhaul’s gas or diesel engines.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and makes adjustments.
  • Lubricates moving parts and drives or operates repaired truck or equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Fabricates special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
  • Completes all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for trucks
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
  • Valid drivers’ license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history

Skills

  • Previous experience and knowledge with diesel equipment/trucks and/or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of diagnostic software and equipment
  • Strong mechanical proficiency and troubleshooting skills including knowledge of diesel engine and components

Physical Requirements

  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, use hands to move and manipulate objects, and communicate (talk and hear)
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise, all outdoor weather conditions, dust, fuel, oil, other chemicals, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Abides to company safety and drug/alcohol testing requirements
