Imbt founded a small construction company in State College, Pennsylvania with only a few pieces of equipment.  During the following decades, HRI, Inc., as the company was later renamed, expanded geographically to cover areas outside of central Pennsylvania, including much of Central, Eastern, and Western Pennsylvania.  Operations also expanded to include paving, water, sewer, airport, highway, and bridge projects as well as asphalt plants. HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an experienced and energetic Project Superintendent. The position is within our Heavy and Highway Region, where we are a leader in highway construction. We have the ability and experience to complete major projects consisting of the reconstruction of interstates and local streets as well as new construction.  We have the ability to perform large excavation, grading, drainage, bridges, and structures.  Our experienced labor force can mobilize and successfully complete any project. 


The primary function of a Project Superintendent will in conjunction with the Project Manager, and General Superintendent. The ideal candidate will coordinate and supervises the construction process from the conceptual development stage, through to final construction, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Typically has one or more Foremen and/or lead persons as direct reports.



•    Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safe practices as       part of HRI’s safety culture; review safe work plans with crew prior to job commencement
•    Work with project managers, and General Superintendent, subcontractors, resources, and equipment, to ensure projects remain on time and on budget
•    Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope and quality objectives
•    Provide direction to foreman responsible for coordinating daily activities of assigned crew and equipment pertaining to scope of work, including holding             individuals accountable
•    Read and interpret project plans and specifications
•    Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met; communicate any deviations to project managers
•    Engage in open communication with Project Managers, General Superintendent and report any issues which could affect project plans
•    Attend internal and external pre-construction meetings and project site meetings as required
•    Oversee coordination of materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregates, underground utilities material) and ensure on-time delivery of materials to job sites
•    Oversee and promote employee training, mentoring, and development; assist foreman in addressing performance concerns as needed
•    Ensure equipment maintenance inspections are completed to maintain equipment in safe operating condition
•    Complete and submit paperwork, reporting, and perform other administrative tasks related to project completion and/or employee supervision in a timely           manner
•    Safely operate company vehicles and equipment


Preference will be given to candidates having 5 Years of Foreman/Superintendent Experience in the heavy civil sector. The individual must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance, and understand of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities. The candidate must have superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential.


The position is a full-time salaried position with a great starting rate and excellent benefits package.
