Job Summary

  • Operates the specific vehicles used for the project work in their field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Must operate truck equipped with a dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, coal and bituminous paving materials; or must operate a truck equipped with a water tank to transport and spread water on job sites
  • Must have skills to conduct pre-trip inspection checklist on equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water
  • Must be able to handle paperwork concerning Department of Transportation regulations, freight weigh bills, fuel tickets and load tickets
  • Must be able to carry out detailed instructions, take directions to job sites, but also must be able to use good judgement in decision making and be able to work without direct supervision. 
  • Must be able to oil, grease and fuel truck
  • Must have the ability to operate the vehicle safely in traffic situations and follow the policies and procedures of the company

Education

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid drivers’ license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history

 

Skills

 

  • The qualified candidates will have a class A or B CDL. Applicants must be able to work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands

Physical Requirements

 

  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects
  • Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear) 
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise 
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, Overtime as required
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Proven track record working safely
  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive attitude
  • Some travel might be required
  • Must comply will all DOT regulations
