Purpose of the role

 

We are looking for a Supervisor to be based at our Bescot depot, WS1 4NL. The Supervisor is a position that requires practical experience developed from within this business and or industry sector, from an operational basis on highways maintenance and commercial management, gained over a period of several years. Key knowledge and people management experience are essential. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and forward-thinking individual with strong commercial acumen who has previous experience of managing high performing teams.

Main Responsibilities

 

As a Supervisor your duties will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership, motivation, and direction to the contract unit delivery team.
  • Efficient management and utilisation of all business unit / company resource through planning and effective dialogue with peers / clients
  • Mapping and deployment of company resources encouraging increased utilisation where appropriate.
  • Ensure all personnel comply with company procedures.
  • Support, encourage and develop all staff / operatives within your control identifying all appropriate training needs.
  • To ensure that all operations carried out within your area of responsibility are undertaken with full regard for safety of visitors, other members of staff and yourself.
  • Ensure compliance with companies' safety & quality procedures.
  • Assist and uphold discipline within the business always ensuring company compliance.
  • Undertake all other appropriate duties as assigned by your line manager.
  • To assist as part of a rota system with Silver/Bronze Call out.
  • Manage where required the preparation and production of Job packs for various works on the network ensuring risks and hazards are properly identified and mitigated.
  • Support senior staff as and when required.
  • Ensure that Winter Maintenance is delivered as per the client’s instruction.
  • Assist with investigations when required.
  • Manage and maintain winter and call out rotas.

 

Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum 2 years of experience within a similar role from a Highways background. You will have confirm knowledge and a firm understanding of highways legislation, including the Road Traffic Act, Chapter 8, DMRB and TSRGD. You will have proven ability to demonstrate strong financial understanding including control and reporting of budgets and associated variations.
