Purpose of the Role

 

To safely drive and conduct any Plant tractions within your allocated region / route knowledge on any of Colas Rail’s operational or transit services. Starting with OTMs you would then learn other tractions potentially including Rail Grinders, Rail Millers and Freight.

Person Specification

 

  • Proven extended experience in driving trains
  • Significant Route Knowledge
  • European Driving Licence
  • Road Driving Licence
  • PTS
  • Fire Training
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Driver Mentor
  • To be able to drive all types On-Track Machines within your allocated region
  • Trainer / Assessor Qualification – not essential training can be provided

 

This is a UK Mobile position, reporting to the Rugby depot.

Key Responsibilities

 

Key Role Accountabilities

  • Driving and route conducting the machines safely and effectively
  • To work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining quality systems, and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations for updating as required
  • Required undertake route learning / refreshing as and when required. Must maintain and work towards expanding route knowledge base.
  • Will be required to drive all other OTM’s.
  • Required to keep all routes current via the Colas Rail route app

SHEQ Responsibilities

  • Work to applicable Safety Plans and Method Statements.
  • Comply with Section 7 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Close Calls and safety conversations submitted as per procedure

Interfaces

  • Interfaces with Rail Grinding Management, Rail Planning Team, Grinding and Maintenance Supervisors regarding any machine problems and changes to schedules.
