Purpose of the role

 

To operate and maintain the Colas Rail Kirow Crane, Track Relaying Machines and any other plant colas rail own or operate as to ensure that the Network Rail contracted work is fulfilled in terms of reliability and availability.  This is a site based role so your home location is not important.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Reporting to the SPG Planning and Maintenance Team Leaders giving technical support on operational and maintenance issues and liaising with other departments within Colas Rail Services.
  • Completing detailed reports of any failures/ breakdowns for due submission to SPG Planning and Maintenance Team Leaders.
  • Conduct all pre-start safety checks using appropriate daily and weekly checklists.
  • Respond to fix service faults and failures.
  • Report all service faults and failures immediately both in writing and verbally to the Colas Rail Services Control Desk, SPG Team leader and Ops Manager
  • Undertake slinging and propping duties as required to establish a safe lift.
  • Carry out daily/weekly/monthly maintenance and safety checks.
  • Assist Maintenance Department when necessary with routine maintenance and repairs on other machines colas rail operate.
  • Carry out maintenance as specified in the maintenance schedule.
  • To carry out repairs and maintenance to a high standard on a variety of On Track Machines operated by Colas Rail Services to ensure that the on-site reliability is maintained as high as possible and within contract.
  • Report directly to the Planning & Maintenance Team Leaders both on site and whilst undertaking Depot duties.
  • Comply with all local and company rules or instructions on safety matters.
  • Participate in a positive manner in all company safety initiatives.
  • Undertake the duties of Kirow / TRM Crane controlling and OTP crane controlling

  • OTP & OTM Lift Planning
  • Attend for work in compliance with a previously agreed Roster, which will include weekends and night shifts.
  • Be in possession of a full and valid UK road vehicle driving license, which must be presented for inspection by the company when required.

 

Person Specification

 

  • The job holder must have or be able to or have the ability to learn to operate the Kirow Crane, Track Relaying Machines and any other plant colas rail own in accordance with Railway Standards, Manufacturers Procedures and in Possessions to the instructions of the Crane Controller and Team Leaders.
  • Have a full UK driving license
  • The role involves lodging away when business needs
  • Traveling abroad is required at times for business needs.
  • To be able to work a shift pattern that will include days, nights and weekends.
  • Able to operate machines to business requirements.
  • Keep in date all relevant operation and maintenance competencies including PTS, COSS, DP, Slinger, CC RMMM. OTP Lift Planner and SSOW Planner
  • TRM Crane Controller
  • Kirow Crane Controller
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures when carrying out maintenance works.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and maintenance schedules.
  • Physically fit and have passed the require company medical.
  • Possess a structured methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work equally as well as an individual or as part of a team.
  • Have served any approved and appropriate apprenticeship either internal or external may be advantageous.
  • Willingness to continue personal development through training.
  • Having a positive outlook on the requirement for continuous change to accommodate the current business needs.
  • Have a minimum NVQ level 3 in either or all, mechanical, Hydraulics and electronics or apprentice trained, or enrolled onto.
