Position Summary

In this role, your responsibilities as a Operator-Chief Power Engineer Engineer will include, general supervision and accountability for the general management of the boiler & thermal liquid heating systems at the Acheson facility.  You will also direct and supervise the shift engineers in the safe predictable operation while maintaining accurate records.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

•    Directly supervises the daily activities relating to heating systems and Shift Engineers.
•    Ensure the logbook is updated and maintained daily.
•    Ensure that an accurate record is kept of power plant’s checks.
•    Ensure that checks are conducted at least every 2 hours while a heater is in operation.
•    Maintain Logbook relating operation and maintenance to the boiler and thermos liquid heating systems.
•    Maintain records of testing of servicing safety valves and other safety devises and controls.
•    Water treatment testing, chemical adjustments, filter changes, and maintenance of the makeup water skid.   
•    Identify areas to improve the plants efficiency.
•    Maintain and implement SOP’s as well as develop and maintain training competencies for operator sign-offs.
•    Develop LOTO packages for all maintenance work associated with heating systems on site (Mastercard, JHA’s, P&ID, Procedure, Walk the Line)
•    Audit 6S Identified areas of the plant.
•    Assist in maintenance planning by identifying priority requests.
•    Participate in all emergency situations, accidents, and spills.
•    Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
•    The schedule would be Monday-Thursday (6am-4pm) 
•    Other duties assigned by plant Managers.

 

Qualifications

•    Hold a Class 3 Power Engineer Certificate – Registered with ABSA
•    Detailed knowledge of ABSA’s Acts, Regulations, and codes.
•    Minimum of 5 years of experience as Class 3 Power Engineer
•    Individual must be able to work on their own and be self-motivated.
•    A strong communicator with leadership experience.
•    Must be efficient in computer programs such as: Excel, Word, JDE experience an asset
•    Experience in an asphalt plant environment, or experience from an operational process is required
