Job Title: Engineering Degree Apprentice
Location: Kings Norton, Birmingham
Division: Infrastructure - Track
Reporting To: Engineering Lead

Purpose of the Role

To train to become a future engineer at Colas Rail by studying for a Degree  Apprenticeship qualification in Rail Engineering and working in our operation based out of our Kings Norton office.  The candidate will be earning and learning at the same time for the duration of the apprenticeship programme.   

What I will be Focused on - Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the engineers in planning and delivering engineering solutions in a timely manner to ensure we adhere to project timelines.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are delivered at all times, work in a collaborative manner, engage with the client and colleagues.
  • Ensure best health and safety practices are being utilised during all site/depot/machine activities and any non-compliant materials or workmanship is reported following the correct process.
  • Support others on the project.
  • Attend all the relevant Degree Apprenticeship Training, ensuring the learning gets implemented in the workplace.
  • Attend all Colas Rail related training programmes and events and support in the attraction of new early careers talent into the business.
  • As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. 
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time. 

About You - Person Specification

  • You have either completed your A-Levels or engineering college course by July 2024
  • You are able to drive or will have completed your driving test by August 2024
  • You will be able to collaborate as part of a team
  • You have good verbal and written communication skills
  • You show an interest and drive to be part of the Rail Industry
  • You can work independently and in a team using your own initiative
