Purpose of the Role

 

To co-ordinate/supervise work groups by assigning work, scheduling work hours, check results, take actions to ensure quality work, and provide training for staff. To Supervise physical works on site, ensuring safe delivery, compliance to appropriate internal and external standards and timely completion and handback.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the safety integrity of all activities undertaken by the staff he/ she is responsible for.
  • Ensure personal site diary maintained with daily events recorded appropriately. 
  • Assist supervisor to organise, manage and develop robustly, a first class Track Systems labour delivery team and maintain suitable hard copy and soft copy records for regular audit.
  • Assist the supervisor through the allocation of labour resources to projects, both internal and external to deliver required skills and keep the team utilisation on or above target 
  • Take active involvement in the planning of the projects with Construction Manager and supervisor, working alongside the technical staff. Plan, order and oversee, Plant requirements (Small and large plant), material requirements and manage site storage issues.
  • Deliver daily task briefing and keep physical signed records for audit purposes.
  • Carry out site inspections.  Ensure that works are carried out by installation team in a safe manner and to correct standard.
  • Populate redline drawings / ITP checks as work is completed.
  • Make recommendations with respect to career planning and development of the site labour resources.
  • Ensure that all resources delivering Track / Systems installation and construction activities across the Alliance comply with relevant specifications and standards set by the Lead Engineer and the Project Engineering Assurance Manager. 
     

Person Specification

 

  • Hold PTS, COSS track safety competencies or equivalent
  • Proven experience of team leadership and influencing staff
  • Previous experience of Track & Systems installation and construction activities, ideally for urban systems (Tramways, LRT)
  • Ability to read / understand technical drawings 
  • Ability to record and compile redline drawings and ITP documentation 
  • Understanding of other related rail disciplines and interface management
