Job Summary:

Responsible for daily operations of a commercial aggregate quarry or pit, and concrete ready-mix production plant including safety, quality control, and supervision of employees.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Ensure continual compliance with MSHA, OSHA and EPA regulations
•    Maintain effective relationships and work with customers, suppliers, local communities, local, state and federal governments, and Company business groups
•    Manage the activities of quarry, pit, and/or dredge production crews to meet established business and production objectives
•    Respond quickly to customer needs
•    Assist with review and analysis of production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to resolve causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems
•    Assist with revision of production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operation issues
•    Assists with maintenance scheduling, and coordinates maintenance of equipment to keep equipment and facility in top condition to optimize production flow
•    Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to e-mail correspondence, timecard entry, handling documents and electronic files, etc.
•    Trains and coaches plant employees to perform at their highest level
•    Safely operate company vehicles, tooling, and equipment
•    Actively supports and leads Company initiatives related to safety and employee development

Education:

•    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
•    Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required

 

Skills:

•    Consistent track record of maintaining a safe work culture
•    3-5 years of practical experience with aggregate production processes, including plant/crushing operations
•    1-2 years of experience leading and managing employees preferred
•    Self-directed, driven by results, and highly motivated requiring minimal direct guidance
•    Basic computer skills using MS Office and similar programs
•    MSHA certification or ability to obtain certification required
•    Ability to lead and motivate others; prior experience effectively developing a team preferred
•    Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines

Physical Requirements:

•    Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
•    Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery
•    Occasionally required to work from heights
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
•    Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
•    Regularly exposure to loud noise 
•    Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, fumes and airborne particles
•    Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
