Mission
Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an individual for the position of Asphalt Paving Lead in Duncan, SC. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Including, but not limited to:
- Assist in scheduling of field activities, subcontractors and crew members.
- Inspect work performed to ensure it meets specifications and is on schedule.
- Will direct and supervise the activities of the crew in the performance of their regular duties in the crew foreman’s absence.
- Assist with analyzing construction equipment needs and trucking requirements.
- Maintain daily records of all significant project facts, crew timesheets, events and conditions.
- Assist with the instruction and training of employees and ensure the safety of the workers.
- Supervises all phases of a paving operation such as maintenance of equipment, employees, and distribution of product.
- Will aid crew foreman in implementing environmental, health and safety regulations and policies (local, state and government).
- Responsible for maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Must have a basic knowledge of abilities and limitations in all paving applications.
- Ability to recognize potential problems before breakdowns occur.
- Must keep equipment serviced, lubricated, and in good working order, including good housekeeping.
- Must understand the dangers involved in an interstate operation.
- Must have the ability to work safely and follow the policies and procedures of the company.

Job Requirements
- Experience in roadway and site construction.
- Knowledge of traffic control standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to company's safety program and practices.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate paving equipment (Example: Pavers, Rollers, Broom Tractor, Lute and Tack Truck)
- Travel in short intervals may be required
- Must be able to speak the English language fluently.
- Must possess a current, valid driver's license.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 5+ years' experience in Road Paving Management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day.
- Must be able to sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.
