Summary

Are you a reliable, professional and knowledgeable Tack Truck Operator?  Do you enjoy travelling and seeing what Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories have to offer?  We are hiring a Tack Truck Operator for our mobile crew.

This role will operate the Tack Truck to applying various asphalt based tack coats before paving operations to help asphalt adhere to the road structure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proper machine startup, operation, and shutdown knowledge.
  • Operate the distributor safely and efficiently.
  • Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to the required work area and emulsion distribution rates.
  • Filling asphalt and burner fuel tanks, cleaning and setting spray bars, and cleaning excess asphalt out of tanks.
  • Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors.
  • Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness.
  • Work with the asphalt paving crew when the distributor is not required.
  • Other related construction labour duties as required.

Qualifications | Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D preferred
  • Class 5 driver’s license required
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience within the road construction industry
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience operating a Tack Truck is required

Working Conditions

  • Schedule of 6 working days and 1 day off (weather dependent).  Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable employment standards legislation.
  • Ability to work out-of-town and remote locations is required.  Accommodations and Live Out Allowance is applicable in most situations.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
