Job Summary
Supports plant production operations by performing physical work required to maintain efficient operation of plants/equipment; may operate a variety of equipment, vehicles, and tooling.
Main Responsibilities:
• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
• Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives
• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
• Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, dredges, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, excavators, and other mobile equipment used in aggregate mining and production operations; operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks
• Perform manual/physical tasks required in plant operation and maintenance activities
• Work closely with plant operators, equipment operators, drivers and others in completion of assigned tasks
• Perform minor equipment maintenance and repair, including lubrication, replacing oil/fluids, and re-fueling
• Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized
• Complete other related projects/tasks as assigned
• Performs routine maintenance on an aggregate screening plant
• Operates miscellaneous hand tools
• May build level and excavate land surfaces using graders and other construction equipment.
• Strip and load dirt and waste products from pump ground onto trucks. Transport to appropriate location.
• Able to feed crushing and screening plants with front end loader
Education:
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving history required
Skills:
• 1-2 years of experience and/or equivalent combination of training/experience in operation of heavy equipment preferred
• Prior experience working in construction, mining or similar industry preferred
• Experience maintaining a screening plant preferred
• Experience in the sand/gravel operation preferred
• MSHA Certified preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Physical Requirements
• Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
• Frequently required to stand for long periods and walk across uneven terrain
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Regularly required to stand/work on feet for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
• Regularly required to work from a seated position operating equipment for long periods
• Frequent exposure to loud noise
• Occasionally exposed to working from high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock
• Mining environment; regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel/chemicals, loud noise, moving equipment/parts, and vibration
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation*: $28.00-$32.00 DOE
*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
