As a Social Value Apprentice, you will undertake a 3-year Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Practitioner Level 4 Apprenticeship while working in our business You will work closely with the Social Value Manager and join a supportive environment with a thriving community of early career professionals and experienced colleagues who will mentor you every step of the way.


The Social Value Apprentice will join the Colas Rail Social Value team, supporting the company’s social value strategy and action plan. Your primary responsibilities will include delivering social value initiatives in the communities where we operate, building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and monitoring and reporting social value outcomes across the company.
 

What I will be Focused on - Key Responsibilities

•    Support the delivery and development of the company’s social value strategy and action plan.
•    Collaborate with colleagues and supply chain partners to promote social value.
•    Research new initiatives for long-lasting social impact, network within local communities, and innovate.
•    Plan and deliver social value activities across England, including school engagement, career fairs, university talks, and volunteering activities.
•    Build partnerships with community and voluntary organizations, delivering joint-social value projects.
•    Promote and arrange volunteering opportunities for staff.
•    Liaise with various teams to improve social value delivery.
•    Monitor and track social value delivery, reporting outcomes via the company’s monitoring tool.
•    Produce case studies to promote social value activities on social media and the company website.
•    Identify social value related awards and collaborate with internal teams to develop award-winning entries.
•    As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. 
•    Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time. 

About You - Person Specification

•    Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
•    Experience of working in a community engagement role e.g. at a charity, voluntary or youth organisation, school etc. 
•    Must be willing to travel across England and Wales (including London, Swindon, Bristol, Cambridge and Chelmsford) 
•    Good communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Good relationship building skills
•    Commitment to learning and completing your apprenticeship
•    Able to create and deliver presentations
•    Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
