Purpose of the Role

 

To support the Track division as required. To plan and deliver track renewals and associated works ensuring that the work is planned and delivered safely and to time and budget.
 

Person Specification

 

  • Post with 'safety of the Line' responsibility
  • Monitor the compliance to health and safety regulations and clients and company rules,
  • processes and procedures
  • Identify, remove or mitigate foreseeable risks related to construction work
  • Check that suitably competent staff is allocated to work activities
  • Comply or ensure compliance to safety critical procedures
  • Report all accidents, and incidents
  • You co-operate with your employer to enable any legal obligations to be complied with.
  • You take reasonable care for your own health & safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or do not do.
  • You do not recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare.
  • You bring to the attention of your Manager any perceived shortcomings in health and safety arrangements or situations that you consider to be serious or imminent danger to yourself or others.
  • You do not undertake any safety critical work activity or activity for which a specific competence is required, unless you have received the necessary training/instruction and/or assessment and hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work. You do not instruct others to undertake such work if they do not hold the appropriate Certificate of Competence/Authority to Work
  • Hold recognized supervisory or leadership in management course
  • Competent in mandatory track inspections to ensure safety of line
     

Key Responsibilities

 

  • As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements 
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time. 
  • Work as directed by the Site Manager
  • Take charge of construction activity (including Track Renewals Core worksites as directed) and deliver the planned work safely and on time, adhering to the requirements defined in the Colas Rail Site Management Procedure 
  • To manage a team and monitor / drive the performance of staff reporting to the supervisor in terms of delivery to time, quality specification, budget and manage manner
  • Carry out the role of Site Manager in charge of a construction site as directed
  • Allocate or ensure that suitably competent staff are allocated to activities
  • Risk assess site conditions and work activities; and plan or initiate suitable control measures
  • Working with the Lead Engineer and Engineers, develop the staging of the work, work activities and methodology
  • Ensure that all long-lead plant items, including labour and materials are secured.
  • Place orders for all required manpower, tools, equipment etc.
  • Undertake detailed site visits and planning
  • Produce or assist in producing multi-discipline Work Package Plans and Task Briefs
  • Optimize the resource levels to ensure projects are delivered to budget and specification
  • Maintaining accurate records of site resources, materials and plant. Provide daily resource sheets, weekly plant returns, weekly materials returns and subcontract performance reports
  • Produce reports or provide information in a timely manner
  • Undertake the supervision of work sites during the mid-week and weekend as required
  • Carry out track inspections as directed and produce snagging lists
  • Assist in audit and carry out safety inspections as directed
  • Attend and cascade briefings as directed
  • Weekend / Night duty as per roster
  • Perform On Call duties as directed
  • Deputized as Rimini planner as required
  • As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. 
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.
