Summary

As a Project Manager, Heavy Civil you will provide overall direction for one large or several smaller projects and successfully take responsibility for overall project performance including costs, schedule, quality and project status. The role involves overseeing operations of the project coordinator(s), superintendent(s), field coordinators(s), and quality control administrators and maintaining relationships with subcontractors and clients

As a Project Manager, Heavy Civil, You Will

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the project to ensure it is delivered on budget and on time.
  • Develop, monitor and adjust critical path schedules to achieve project milestones. Implement processes, measures and standards that achieve productivity targets
  • Monitor performance against the contract and execute corrective action when necessary to ensure compliance and avoid penalties
  • Develop the project budget for direct, indirect and other costs based on estimates provided
  • Review and approve performance status reports on costs, forecasts, revenue and margins to identify issues and opportunities to minimize costs
  • Develop and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with the client to produce positive outcomes on change orders etc.
  • Ensure projects are built to quality specifications. Monitor non-conformances and improve operations to avoid deviations and infractions and comply with all QA/QC requirements
  • Provide technical and functional direction and support to the project team to create and promote opportunities for direct reports to take on new responsibilities aligned with business needs
  • Evaluate the direct reports against established expectations and optimize their performance

 

What You Will Bring?

  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience leading a large highway, bridge, or municipal construction projects from concept to completion
  • A professional certification like PMP, civil engineering background and experience managing some MTO projects preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with superior writing skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering construction drawings
  • Exceptional people management skills
  • Significant understanding of Provincial construction Safety Regulations and proven record of safe project execution
  • Complete understanding of forecasting, job costing and accounting
  • Appreciation for a high level of quality standards is required
