Job Summary

The Ready Mix Driver operates a truck with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites while operating under FMCSA and DOT regulations.

Safety

 Maintains a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment. • Follows all company policies, OSHA, and MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. • Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all tasks assigned. • Operates truck in a safe and efficient manner, complying with all applicable policies, regulations, and traffic laws. • Willingness to participate in Safety Conversations and Toolbox Talks

Quality

Follows NYS DOT and ASTM standards for delivery • Identifies proper slump by eye and by reading slump gauge • Identifies mixtures, additives, etc. in concrete • Ensures mix is to the customer’s specification • Understands mix design and job site specifications • Resets and ensures revolution counter is operating • Records job test results on return ticket • Ensures all tickets are signed by customer

Functional/Technical

Fills aggregate and sand bins on the concrete plant by operating the loader • Shovels and cleans around plant • Performs a pre-trip inspection and prepares the required report • Drives truck under loading hopper to receive sand, cement, stone, additives, and water and starts mixer • Drives truck to location for unloading • Moves levers on truck to release concrete down truck chute into wheelbarrow or other conveying container or directly into area to be poured • Cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck • Sprays surfaces of truck with protective compound to prevent adhering of concrete • Assemble and disassembles concrete chutes • Monitors vehicle’s gauges and alerts appropriate parties immediately of any mechanical issues. • Maintains truck fluids as part of pre-inspection.

Teamwork/Communication

Have the willingness to work in a team environment; assist co-workers and supervisors with assigned duties • Assist new hires in training in Ready Mix operations as directed by Superintendent • Communicate openly, honestly, and professionally with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and all others • Be willing to work with alongside fellow employees to complete assigned tasks sometimes under adverse working conditions to meet goals set forth by management

Education and Minimum Experience

• Minimum high school diploma or GED • Valid CDL B driver’s license (without restriction) • Previous field experience in concrete manufacturing preferred

Working Conditions And Physical Demands

• Variable hours and shifts • Work in varying weather conditions • Ability to lift 50+ pounds • Work as part of the crew • Ability to drive a commercial vehicle for up to 14 hours a day • Ability to climb in and out of their truck several times a day • Ability to climb a ladder
