Summary:

The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for managing asphalt paving operations, ensuring project completion within specifications and budget, while building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with customers to confirm paving plans and follow up on timelines
  • Manage and maintain the paving schedule, adjusting for weather and unforeseen circumstances
  • Organize resources and develop project plans for effective paving activities
  • Foster a positive team environment to improve morale and productivity
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and promote a culture of safety
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and crew performance
  • Address and resolve conflicts professionally and timely
  • Support and enforce company policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Prepare weekly work schedules using electronic scheduling systems
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules with the shop

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Advanced understanding of provincial and municipal project specifications
  • Strong management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications
  • Computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
