The Senior Tax Specialist will be responsible for providing strategic guidance on tax planning, monitoring and compliance with a primary focus on State tax compliance. This includes responsibilities for all documentation and support and researching any relevant issues. Assist with the preparation / review of the quarterly and annual tax provision and related tax accounting.


Essential Functions:

  • Prepare / review ASC 740 analysis, including quarterly and annual provision compilation, deferred tax analysis, and tax account reconciliation.
  • Manage annual state income tax compliance including preparation / review of multistate corporate income tax returns, quarterly estimated state tax payments & extensions.
  • Ensure accurate, timely filing of state and local income tax returns and other business related filings.
  • Manage and facilitate information requests for federal and state income tax audits.
  • Resolves tax assessments and/or notices through written and verbal communication with state and local tax representatives.
  • Monitors changes in tax legislation, updates management and team about discovered modifications, and initiate alterations to comply with authoritative requirements
  • Utilizes online tax research services to reach conclusions relating to various tax issues of concern to the company.
  • Remain current on new tax accounting rules.
  • Prepare annual tax reporting packages for affiliate corporations.
  • Prepare interim period tax work-papers for financial reporting.
  • Support the Tax Director in a number of activities, such as restructuring, tax planning, and M&A.
  • Assist affiliate corporate controllers with sales tax questions and provide sales tax audit support.
  • Trains subsidiary accounting staff on tax depreciation software.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.


Education and Minimum Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
  • Experience in Reviewing ASC 740 provision calculations, Federal and Multistate corporate income tax returns is required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years tax experience required.
  • A mix of private and public tax firm experience desired.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and technical tax skills.
  • Excellent research and writing skills required
  • Experience working with OneSource Compliance softeware and CCH Tax research software a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and office 365).
  • Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good Interpersonal skills with the ability to train others.
  • Creative thinker adept at problem solving and has expereince in business process improvement
  • Must be results oriented.
