Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for a knowledgeable and energetic Concrete Finisher for Central PA. The position is within our Highway Region, where we specialize in asphalt paving, products, and other services. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. The ideal candidate has a consistent record of success in fast-paced environments; in addition, they must work well and connect with cross-functional teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the HRI safety policies and other company pivotal initiatives
  • Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly
  • Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
  • Molds expansion joints and edges.
  • Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
  • Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, hydro hammers, jackhammers, pumps, loaders, concrete saws and mixers, hammer drills, generators and hand tools, and equipment.
  • Directs subgrade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
  • Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in concrete finishing preferred
  • Valid drivers’ license with ability to maintain a clean driving record required

Skills

  • Must comply will all DOT regulations
  • Applicants may work varying shifts and long hours dependent on market demands
  • Must follow the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Proven track record working safely
  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive demeanor
  • Travel as required

Physical Requirements

  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, use hands to move and manipulate objects, and communicate (talk and hear)
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise, all outdoor weather conditions, dust, fuel, oil, other chemicals, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
