Job Summary

Barrett Paving Materials is currently seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator to operate the production of hot mix asphalt and other mix designs used in the construction and maintenance of roadways.

Main Responsibilities

  • Receive orders for asphalt
  • Ensure customers get accurate product and pricing
  • Complete preventive maintenance on the plant, including planning, documenting, and recording scheduled maintenance, and respond to any mechanical breakdowns or malfunctions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the plant(s), including the inside/outside of the operator’s shack.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of materials, such as: additives, fuel, and liquid asphalt to meet daily production needs.
  • Assist in establishing maintenance budgets and procedures.
  • Compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations/policies.
  • Continuously improve safety and productivity at the facility.

Skills

  • Previous experience equipment and/or working in an HMA plant is preferred
  • Good mechanical skills for equipment repair and fabrication is desirable
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and hours based on market demands
  • MSHA certification is considered a plus

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational school graduation is required

Physical Requirements

  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
