Job Summary

Our team is seeking a skilled CDL driver. The main duty of the position is to be responsible for driving a commercial vehicle to move materials and equipment used in building, repairing and paving roads, and general site construction. Main Responsibilities

  • Embrace safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by our company.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections on truck to ensure vehicle operation safety
  • Ensure safe operation of vehicle; document and report required maintenance and/or repair to maintenance team
  • Safely operate assigned vehicle(s); may be required to operate multiple types of vehicles and vehicle/trailer combinations involved in operations
  • Observe all OSHA, FMCSA, and other industry regulations, company safety policies, and general rules of the road
  • Assist in loading and unloading of materials in truck/trailer bed; may include operation of heavy equipment (including but not limited to a skid steer, loader, or similar)
  • Maintain driver logs according to state and federal regulations

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Class A CDL with double/triples, hazmat and tanker endorsement and a clean driving history.
  • Current Medical Examiner's Card

Skills

  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Prior experience operating a commercial vehicle in an industrial, construction or similar environment preferred.
  • Member of the Alaska Teamsters Local 959 or the ability to join.
  • Ability to read and understand written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Complete required documentation related to the role.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pass a DOT pre-employment and random urinalysis.
  • Able to pass a physical ability test.
  • Must be willing and able to climb onto and up/down a vehicle several times a day.
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Regularly required to use hand to move and manipulate objects.
  • Be able to communicate (talk and hear).
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noises, working around heavy machinery and mobile construction equipment.
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel, oil and other chemicals.
