Position Summary
In this full-time position, you will perform preventative maintenance and running repairs on all McAsphalt, Miller and 3rd party fleet vehicles. You will be responsible for servicing, performing repairs, overhaul, diagnosing and inspecting vehicles.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Detecting, diagnosing, and repairing problems with brakes, wheels, hubs, frames, lift/ steer axles, ABS, suspension systems, electrical systems, air systems, product tank and external piping, as well as landing gears.
- Using diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults.
- Keeping up to date on advances in technology and updating skills.
- Communicating effectively with co-workers, drivers, maintenance manager, shop foreman, parts technician, service advisor and the dispatch team.
- Reading and interpreting manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications.
- Alignment of wheels.
- Diagnose tread wear, flat repairs, dismounts, and mounts, along with rotation of tires.
- Welding and or Fabrication duties.
- Complete annual safety checks with MTO and the National Safety Standards.
- Complete all repairs pertaining to certifications.
- Prepare units for B620 Certifications and carry out any repairs pertaining to it.
- Complete all work orders/ paperwork pertaining to service and repair of fleet vehicles.
- Help train any apprentice hired to work in the shop.
- Assist with MTO Certification of the shop.
- Assist in Preventive Maintenance reporting and/or record keeping.
- Help keep the shop clean and safe according to 6S standards.
- Use all safety equipment provided.
- Participate in all safety protocols in the shop.
- Participate in and keep up to date on any safety training provided.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a licensed Trailer Mechanic.
- 310J Truck-Trailer Service Technician Certification.
- Interprovincial Red Seal Certification.
- Maintain a valid membership with Skilled Trades Ontario.
- B620 certification a major asset.
