BIM Manager

Mission

The role involves the management, supervision, and guidance of BIM modelers and staff working on project sub-systems design. It includes scheduling, progress monitoring, reporting, and maintaining up-to-date records. The position also requires coordination with internal design teams, external contractors, and clients, ensuring smooth interfaces and integration of various project components. The role supports procurement, logistics, and quality assurance processes, and involves attending meetings with clients and contractors. Additionally, the role provides general project support as directed by the Project Director or Head of Rail Systems Engineering.

In terms of BIM coordination, the role oversees the production of documentation for each subsystem within the consortium, ensuring the system models meet specified Levels of Development (LOD) for each phase. Responsibilities include verifying model quality, ensuring zero clashes, and facilitating coordination for construction and clash mitigation meetings. The position also ensures timely updates to the BIM model as design changes are made, manages integration of fabrication models, and oversees the final trade model deliverables, including the validation of "as-constructed" conditions. Additionally, the role ensures that COBie spreadsheets extracted from the models meet asset information requirements.

Main Responsibilities

• Is responsible for the implementation of BIM within Colas Rail Projects.

• Provides the main focal contact point for all BIM related matters, providing guidance to the BIM team in terms of drawing quality, configuration and control and coordination

• Guides the implementation and direction of BIM within the Colas Rail (CR) organization ensuring that the visions, goals and requirements of each are met.

• Manages the BIM resources of CR resources in achieving quality, on time, compliant, accurate and consistent project deliverables.

• Manages along with the System Integration team and the Subsystem Managers the BIM deliverables

• Provides a liaison between the project, the Client, the BIM teams and the other MMSP Contractors also using BIM

• Assumes responsibility for coordination all BIM software and hardware requirements, installation, updates and maintenance

• Training and mentoring of the BIM team members

• Keeps himself aware of all new software products and technologies relating to BIM that will improve the timeliness and quality of the deliverables

• Knowledgeable of local and International BIM standards and drawing quality control

• Can effectively program the resource to align with the works and deliverables.

• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by management, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to meet organizational needs.

Profile

• Experienced and qualified multi-discipline engineer with strong leadership skills.
• Proven ability to manage, direct, and guide teams while leading BIM resources.
• Client-facing role requiring clear communication of CR and project requirements at all levels.
• In-depth understanding of BIM technology, software, hardware, and tools, with the ability to secure necessary resources.
• Strong knowledge of the drawing production process and ability to accurately quantify timelines for project deliverables.
• Background progression from ACAD drafts person, BIM Modeler, BIM Coordinator to BIM Manager.
• 70% internal management and process implementation; 30% coordination and collaboration with teams and external parties.
• Ability to communicate project reporting, status updates, and resource levels effectively.
• At least 5 years of experience as a BIM Manager in a large, structured project organization.
