Job Summary:
Manages the consolidated activity of entities in a territory and their medium or long-term development by ensuring that performance objectives are met and by analysing the various potential risks.
Main Responsibilities:
Company Culture, Regional Strategy and Leadership
• Drive the Company’s safety culture and all safety initiatives, including those defined and implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
• Promote organizational core values, vision, mission, code of ethics, and safety, workplace conduct, and other policies and best practices
• Direct development of regional strategy and related initiatives that align with overall company strategy, goals, and objectives
• Provide solid leadership and direction to regional management team responsible for execution of regional business processes; set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for results
• Provide mentorship to team leaders, support individual development, and promote professional growth
• Respond to employee feedback, and drive initiatives to support recruiting and retention of successful teams
• Lead and motivate change initiatives necessary to maintain a dynamic and flexible business model that can successful respond to changing market conditions
• Develop and maintain relationships with other leaders of local, state, and federal entities, equipment and product suppliers, and those key to organizational success
Operations Management
• Provide general oversight of construction and manufacturing operations teams; holds team leaders accountable for execution of strategy, department/division goal alignment, and safety and profitability of functional areas
• Oversee construction and production planning processes, including budgeting and capital planning to support operations
• Ensure effective utilization of plants, equipment, and personnel to promote safe operations, reduce cost, improve efficiency, and drive results
• Develop knowledge of market area, products, sales policies, and local, state, and federal requirements impacting operations
• Ensure operations are aligned with safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements
Financial Management
• Oversee regional budgeting, financial planning and forecasting processes
• Review market analysis data and provide recommendations to executive leadership regarding target markets, operational goals, and business expansion
• Set defined goals and targets for business operations; hold team accountable for achievement of financial results
• Approve budgets and capital expenditures; routinely review expenses at all levels
• Analyze, interpret, and present financial and operational data to Simon and Colas leadership teams
• Ensure business practices are aligned with ethics policies, financial standard processes, and regulatory requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, construction management, related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean driving record
Skills:
• 10+ years of dynamic experience in heavy civil construction, aggregate materials manufacturing and/or related field
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing multiple teams
• Computer skills, including use of Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop others, define goals and objectives, and hold others accountable
• Ability to engage with employees at all levels and inspire them to achieve success
• Experience working with financial statements, analyzing financial data, preparing budgets, and managing capital
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and solve complex problems
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
• Ability to effectively present information to individuals at all levels of the organization
• Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and resolve problems
Physical Requirements:
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety guidelines
• Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
• Frequently required to sit for long periods at a desk using a computer
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Exposure to typical construction/industrial site conditions, including dust/chemicals and loud noise, heavy equipment and machinery, all weather conditions, and walking across uneven terrain
• Travel with overnight stays away from home, including some international travel
• Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
