Purpose of the Role

 

To manage Safety Critical training and competency within Rail Services. Responsible to the Senior Trainer Assessor for ensuring effective implementation of Railway Group Standards, Industry Codes of Practice, strategies and policies significant to the safe use, operation, and maintenance of Plant. This includes Plant owned by third parties and operated under contract. Responsible for assisting in maintaining the integrity of Colas Rail's ROG compliance. Implement and manage training and competency assessment regime, including risk management and safety performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure effective systems are in place to manage plant and artisans’ competencies.
  • Co-ordinate training and re-certification of artisans and plant operators.
  • Maintain the staff competency data base.
  • Develop training and assessment documentation.
  • Assist with Technical, Safety & incident investigations as required.
  • Analyses, forecast, plan and monitor the competency management system.
  • Attend meetings as business requirements
  • Lead and participate in Safety meetings as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards and procedures
  • The above does not limit your duties and the Company may require you from time to time to undertake within your capabilities and capacity.
  • As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time.

Person Specification

 

  • Be a widely experienced railway person with an excellent knowledge of plant, on-track machine operation and maintenance activities.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge in rail industry standards relating to plant and equipment including operational safety, and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Hold Trainer, Assessor Qualifications.
  • Be willing to undertake further training as the post dictates.
  • Have excellent communication skills and organisational ability.
  • Have excellent IT skills. Experience in administration organisation.
  • Hold UK driving licence.
