Job Description:

The Bulker & Mixer Operator’s main purpose is to apply accurate amounts of water to gravel in preparation for road construction. This role is also responsible for efficiently operating Cat Rm 250 & 300s in a variety of situations involving cement stabilization, in potentially tight work areas with a variety of other construction equipment, in busy work projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Positively participate in Goal Zero Initiative, including adhering to the Defined Activities as defined for their position.
  • Perform pre and post trip equipment inspections and fill out log books.
  • Back up equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Responsible for equipment checks and informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with the equipment.
  • Must be able to identify hazards on site.
  • Must be willing and able to learn general construction practices involving road construction.
  • Must have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance.
  • Have the ability to work in an implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Class 3 license with air endorsements is considered an asset.
  • Must have a good understanding water duties and road construction procedures.
  • Willing to learn and take direction.
  • Able to perform physical/manual labour for extended periods of time.
  • Able to communicate well with co-workers.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license (class 5).
  • Able to work under pressure in some situations.
  • Able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
  • Able and willing to work overtime as required.
  • Must be reliable.
  • Must exhibit a strong work ethic.
  • Must have strong regard for ethics.
  • Ability to meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
  • Must be willing to join and maintain active membership with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 955, if not already a member.
