Job Description

 

  • Reeves Construction Company is looking for an EXPERIENCED Heavy Equipment Operator for its St. Augustine, Florida location.  Qualified candidate must be able to effectively operate an Excavator, Loader, Bulldozer to achieve desired goals of the plans and specifications specific to the job. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Adhere to Reeves Construction Company safety programs to ensure a safe work environment
  • Monitor all steps of the operation to ensure Standard Quality and Operating Practices and guidelines are being followed
  • Knowledge of how to operate a Bulldozer, Excavator or Loader
  • Spread dirt in fill areas, finish dress to plan specifications, load material from stockpiles or excavations, finish grade with a loader, experience with material handling
  • GPS machine control knowledge
  • Backfill trenches/excavations
  • Apply caution digging around underground utilities and overhead wire
  • Ability to assist with the maintenance and normal operating adjustment to the equipment
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends

Qualifications & Skills Required

 

  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience on an Underground Utility Construction/ Pipe Crew.
  • Must have a current and valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have adequate transportation to work.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Strong knowledge of plans and specifications, OSHA Trenching Requirements, and Safety Protocol.
  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work in a number of diverse locations is pertinent, as work locations my change daily.
  • Expected Hours: hours will vary by job, location and season. Working a night shift may be required.
  • Must adhere to safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
  • Punctuality, consistent attendance and self-direction for the success of the operations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employees must have 20/40 vision either naturally or with corrective lenses. Hearing should be excellent or by audio device.
