Financial Rotation Program- Accountant

Under the guidance and supervision of an Executive Sponsor, Division Sponsor, and Regional Coaches, this individual will go through the comprehensive 18-24 month Rotation Program, detailing all of the aspects of Barrett Industries and the construction industry.  Key Financial and Operational functions reviewed will be leadership, communication, business acumen, consolidation and audit, manufacturing, construction and long-term contracts, and financial reporting.  There will also be an emphasis on company values, ethics, and safety.  This individual should be a motivated team player who can maintain efficiency and accuracy when multitasking.

 

With emphasis on the integration of financial and operational teams both in the office and the field, this Rotation Program is designed to help participants develop exceptional managerial and financial accounting tools. Individuals in the Rotation Program will be seen as strong contributing members of the finance team, as well as business partners with the operations team.

Job Responsibilities (included but not limited to the following):

  • Adhere to Barrett’s  safety programs to ensure safe work environment
  • Provide support to Region Managers, Controllers, Assistant Controllers, Area Managers and Plant Managers
  • Review month- end financials for accuracy. Process adjusting entries and reclassifications (as needed/directed by Controller/Assistant Controllers/Plant Managers)
  • Prepare general ledger reconciliations on a monthly basis for select accounts
  • Process and analyze inventories for multiple business units
  • Post bank deposits to general ledger and reconcile cash receipts Prepare Excel reports and other analysis as needed
  • Independently prioritize workload to meet all deadlines
  • Provide financial software support to personnel as needed
  • Travel to area offices, construction projects, and manufacturing locations as needed
  • Work with bookkeeping software
  • Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
  • Review time reporting and how payroll is generated
  • Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity
  • Prepare financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, invoices, and other documents

 

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Accounting or Business Administration with a focus in Accounting
  • Willing to relocate within Barrett or Colas after initial rotation period (18-24 months)
  • Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, organize and analyze data
  • Good interpersonal and teambuilding skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintains a valid driver’s license
  • Maintains adequate transportation to work
  • Adheres to safety procedures/guidelines at all times
  • Punctuality, consistent attendance and self-direction
