Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for a knowledgeable and energetic Construction Crew Member for Central PA. The Construction Crew Member position is within our Highway Region, where we are a leader in asphalt paving, products, and heavy civil construction. The position will report to the supervisor and will be accountable for a variety of duties in and around job site of construction projects. Excellent attendance is essential for the team to achieve success. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in fast-paced environments; in addition, they must work well and connect with cross-functional teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Accomplish tasks as advised by supervisor in a timely manner
  • Maintain and clean work areas as well as handle, stack, and move formwork and materials
  • Perform shoveling, raking, demolition, and assisting others as required
  • Locate, avoid, and protect existing underground utilities
  • Read and interpret grade instruments (tape measures, grade rods, levels, and lasers)
  • Apply basic knowledge of soil types, trenching, and shoring per OSHA regulations
  • Capability to work in trench boxes, deep excavations, and confined spaces
  • Knowledge of water and sewer line installation

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving history

Skills

  • Prior knowledge and experience in construction preferred
  • Independent work ethic and professional, positive demeanor
  • Ability to work with a team in a safe manner within a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in handling hand and power tools

Physical Requirements

  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Frequently required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Regularly required to use hands to move and manipulate objects, communicate (talk and hear), stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Strength to stand/work on feet for long periods of time, and walk across uneven terrain
  • Exposure to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Acceptable safety record and dedication to working safely
  • Overtime as the need arises
  • Must follow drug and alcohol testing requirements
