Job Summary
HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for upbeat Carpenters for our projects in Central Pennsylvania. The position is within our Utilities Construction Region, where we are a leader in the water/wastewater treatment plant construction business in addition to our leading position with large, municipal pipe projects. Travel will be required for this position. The qualified candidate will have concrete experience in treatment plants. The position is year-round work.
Main Responsibilities
- Ability to read engineering drawings and take direction from project Foreman
- Familiarity with the erection of different types of concrete forming systems; placement and finishing of all aspects of concrete including foundations, walls, floors, structural slabs, etc.
- Knowledge on installation of the various components of water and wastewater treatment equipment a plus, but not required.
- Building structures required to the specifications of the job, platforms, stairs, concrete forms, framework, temporary frame shelters, etc.
- Install temporary handrails, stairs and ladders, erect and dismantle scaffolding, and tying rebar
- Use carpentry hand tools such as levels, squares, plumb bobs, hammers, hand and power saws, adjustable wrenches, drill motors, reciprocating saws, pry bars, etc. Supply of non-electric/pneumatic hand tools is required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Valid drivers’ license with the ability to maintain a clean driving history
Skills
- Previous experience and knowledge with concrete, bridges and/or related fields preferred
Physical Requirements
The position requires strict adherence to Company safety guidelines, including wearing and maintaining personal protective equipment (PPE) when vital. Physical tasks may involve lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. Manual dexterity is regularly required for manipulating objects. Effective communication skills, including talking and hearing, are necessary. The role often involves standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. These activities may be performed on uneven terrain. Additionally, exposure to loud noise is frequent, and the individual will be regularly subjected to various weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles. There is also regular exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals. The job may require flexibility in working hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime. Compliance with the company's drug and alcohol testing policies is mandatory. A proven track record of working safely is essential, along with a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Some travel may be necessary in this role.
