Job Summary:

Coordinates and supervises the construction process on assigned projects, ensuring completion on time and within budget. Typically has one or more foremen and/or lead persons as direct reports.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
•    Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies 
•    Ensure underground utility locates are completed and valid, and sites are safe for employees prior to performing work
•    Work with project managers, and oversee organization and coordination crews, subcontractors, resources, and equipment, to ensure projects remain on time and on budget
•    Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve project safety, schedule, cost, scope and quality objectives
•    Provide direction to foreman responsible for coordinating daily activities of assigned crew and equipment pertaining to scope of work, including holding individuals accountable
•    Read and interpret project plans and specifications
•    Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met; communicate any deviations to project managers
•    Engage in open communication with project and operations managers, and report any issues which could affect project plans
•    Attend internal and external pre-construction meetings and project site meetings as required
•    Oversee coordination of materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregates, underground utilities material) and ensure on-time delivery of materials to job sites
•    Oversee and promote employee training, mentoring, and development; assist foreman in addressing performance concerns as needed
•    Ensure equipment maintenance inspections are completed to maintain equipment in safe operating condition
•    Complete and submit paperwork, reporting, and perform other administrative tasks related to project completion and/or employee supervision in a timely manner
•    Safely operate company vehicles and equipment

Education:

•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Degree in construction management, civil engineering, business, related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
•    Valid Drivers’ License and ability to maintain a clean driving history required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) a plus

Skills:

•    3-5 years of experience in road, bridge, concrete construction, asphalt paving and/or related area 
•    1-3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
•    Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry requirements
•    Basic experience with project estimation and cost analysis
•    Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety regulations, project plans, and related materials
•    Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills
•    Experience working under pressure of deadlines
•    Computer and/or mobile device experience, including use of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Android and iOS applications; ability to learn new programs related to role
•    Ability to plan and organize and direct the work of others
•    Ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
•    Ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization, clients, vendors, and other representatives

Physical Requirements:

•    Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
•    Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
•    Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
•    Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear), and perform tasks requiring visual acuity
•    Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 
•    Standing/working on feet for long periods (8 hours or more), and walking across uneven terrain
•    Frequently work in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery
•    Frequent exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust and loud noise, and all weather conditions
•    Some exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
•    Frequent travel, including overnight stays away from home may be required

Benefits and Perks:

Compensation*: $90,000-$120,000 DOE

 

*Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
