Primary Duties

 

  • Responsible for analyzing materials, including, asphalt and emulsions
  • Operates, maintains, and cleans laboratory testing equipment and workspace
  • Accurately performs testing of asphalt products according to DOT specifications and company quality control plans
  • Record and maintain quality control reports
  • Analyze data, troubleshoot, and recommend process control adjustments under the supervision of the quality control manager
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned
  • Draws up and issues production batch sheets and inventory levels as required
  • Test and records data on other as requested by terminal manager and QC manager.

Experience and Physical Requirements

 

  • Previous lab experience preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Must be energetic and willing to learn all aspects of the position
  • Able to be flexible with duties and working hours
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines 
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without assistance
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, Overtime as required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
