Purpose of the role

 

Colas Ltd. have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the Area 9 team, you will be based in Bescot, WS1 4NL.  Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide support to the Commercial team with the administration of the Area 9 M & R Contract. (Highways Maintenance & Response Contract)  and carry out reconciliation of cost and value for recovery through the contract mechanism.

Main Responsibilities

 

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will assist with the collation of data for monthly reports and commercial activities required for the contract and provide accurate and timely reports as required. You will assist with pricing of new works in accordance with the contract mechanisms and assist with management of Sub contractor work packages. As part of the role you will identify and interpret Key Performance and Result Measure and evaluate change through analysis of rates or compensation methods, and agreement of the effects of change. You will be a part of the preparation, presentation, negotiation and agreement of interim and final accounts, including re-measurement in accordance with a standard method of measurement and work closely with QS to ensure framework quotations and prices are issued on time and in accordance with contract condition. You will ensure all commercial processes comply with Colas’ corporate governance and comply with group standards. You will be required to undertake any other tasks assigned by your line manager.

Ideal Candidate

 

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Quantity Surveying or a degree in something similar within Construction. You will ideally have experience within Highways however this is not essential and we are open to candidates who come from a Finance background. 

 

You will be be an excellent communicator both verbal and oral, you will be able to adapt to change and be proficient in all Microsoft Office Suites, in particular Microsoft Excel and Outlook. It is essential that you are highly organised and have great problem solving skills. A valid UK driving licence is required for this role.
