Job Summary

HRI, Inc., a leader in heavy civil construction since 1947, has an opening for an energetic Project Trainee. The Project Trainee position is part of a PennDOT sponsored training program. No prior construction experience is needed. We will train the selected candidate on various aspects of the construction industry. Women and underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with mentor to learn various construction positions including laboring
  • Provided with continuing education to understand and put into practice all safety policies and procedures

  • No previous education required

Skills

  • Ability to use equipment properly and safely
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Must have an acceptable safety record and be committed to working safely
  • Overtime as required
  • Ability to work with a team and in a fast-paced environment
  • Independent and good work ethic, professional, and positive demeanor
  • Reliable transportation to travel to the jobsite

Physical Requirements

  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by Company safety guidelines
  • Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, use hands to move and manipulate objects, and communicate (talk and hear)
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Exposed often to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, airborne particles, fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, Overtime as required
  • Must align with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements
  • Proven track record working safely
  • Good work ethic, professional, and positive demeanor
